In Detail
The new system was developed to simplify the wet opening step and provide a number of advantages to the production.
The fiber is collected after the mat opener at the end of aftertreatment and transported by means of a fan to an air separator which is located on top of the feeder unit. A certain fiber level is maintained there and fibre is fed continuously to the opening unit which consists of feed rollers and an opening tambour. The opened fiber is provided as a uniform fleece directly to the dryer belt.
For production this system provides the advantage of equal distribution of the fibre mat over the working width thus reducing wet spots. The dryer capacity is also supported by a certain pre-drying through transport air, this can be further increased by using hot air for fiber transport Further the system can be used as an interlink to shift production from one line to another one. For maintenance the system is much simpler and requires less effort than conventional systems with spiked apron.
