In Detail
OPERATION The KKF-system is a fully automatic, continuous system using the principle of depth filtration. The filter material is a metal fibre fabric, which retains particles of different sizes and shapes owing to its depth effect. After the predetermined degree of contamination has been reached, the filter material is rinsed clean by backwashing a small load of filtered medium. The backwash with the impurities is ejected by the reject equipment within the filter.
FILTRATION The unfiltered medium is forced into area P1 through the inlet by the feed pump. Separation occurs as the unfiltered medium goes from area P1 into area P2, as the filter material is installed on a perforated drum between these chambers. The filtered medium is discharged through the outlet, and goes to P2-pressure equalising tank, spin tank or P2-control valve.
BACKFLUSHING-CLEANING After the maximum degree of contamination has been reached, the entire surface of the filter material is cleaned by a backwash procedure. This is initiated by the movement of the reject piston from lid to bottom or vice-versa.
The channel-shaped openings between the piston rings, which seal the inside surface of the perforated drum, backwash the minimum quantity of backwash liquid (filtrate) which is necessary to rinse the filter material free from impurities. After the whole surface is clean, the lower DP is reached and the reject piston remains in the waiting position until DP rises again to the calculated value for backwash-release.
